Pasture Raised Meats & Eggs

HBT Family Farm raises quality pork, beef , poultry and eggs. All our animals are pasture raised and fed locally milled grain. We raise heritage breed animals and crosses. Two of our heritage breeds are Scottish Highlander Cattle and Gloucestershire Old Spot Pigs. These breeds are in danger of extinction. Modern agriculture has changed, causing many of the breeds to fall out of favor. Heritage breeds store a wealth of genetic resources that are important for our future and the future of our agricultural food system. 

 

These animals take longer to raise but are more efficient grazers and the meat is leaner. We are also using the principles of silvopasturing leaving some trees in the pastures. We have a few horses and board on occasion. This is a life long project and our goal is to sell to local customers and improve the ecosystem.

HBT stands for the three surnames that make up our family - Herdman, Barkman, and Tryon.
